FAQs
What are your design fees?
Every garden, project, and client is unique, so a simple price list doesn’t tell the full story.
Working with a garden designer saves you time, money, and stress. Our experience and knowledge of plants, materials, and design means we can create the right solutions for your garden and budget – turning your outdoor space into something beautiful, practical, and uniquely yours.
How much does it cost to build a garden?
Garden build costs can vary significantly depending on the site, design, and materials used. We work with budgets starting from £20,000, but larger or more complex projects can cost more. Whatever your budget, careful planning and professional guidance ensure you get the best results for your investment.
Do you supply plants?
We offer a plant sourcing service, using our industry contacts to find the best quality plants at the best prices. You’ll pay the suppliers directly, and we charge a small sourcing fee for arranging and coordinating your order.
Can you design a no maintenance garden?
In reality, there’s no such thing as a completely maintenance-free garden. Every garden needs a little care to keep it looking its best – whether that’s by you or a professional gardener.
When we’re designing your borders or creating a full planting plan, we can be mindful of plant choices depending on how involved you want to be in the garden. We can also provide a tailored maintenance plan, outlining what needs doing and when, to help keep your garden healthy and beautiful all year round.
How long does it take to design and build a garden?
The timescale can vary depending on the size and scope of your project. As a guide, the concept design stage usually takes around 4–6 weeks, followed by another 4–6 weeks for the detailed design and planting plan.
The build phase depends on landscaper availability, the scale of the work, and the time of year. Your landscaper should be able to give you realistic expectations for your specific project - some gardens may be completed within a few months, while others can take up to a year or more from start to finish.
What is a topographical survey and why do I need one?
A topographical survey is a detailed map of your site, showing levels, contours, structures, boundaries, trees, and other key features. It is essential for planning your garden design accurately and helps reduce the risk of costly mistakes during the build phase..
When Is the Best Time to Build a Garden?
A garden can be built at any time of year, weather permitting, although poor conditions can sometimes slow progress.
Planting can also be done year-round, but the ideal times are spring and autumn. We avoid planting when the ground is frozen or during the height of summer, when plants require much more watering to establish.
Our approach is simple: avoid planting in extreme weather, use healthy plants in well-prepared soil, and water regularly to help them thrive.
Can You Project Manage the Garden Build?
We don’t offer project management, but we do provide a project inspection service. This involves visiting the site at key stages during the build phase, as agreed with you, to ensure the design is being implemented as intended.
What areas do you cover?
We’re based in Norfolk and work across Norfolk and Suffolk, but we’re happy to travel further afield depending on the project. Much of our design work can be carried out remotely, though we do need to visit the site at key stages of the process.
